(One Prayer Fast Day 3)
Top cravings so far:
- Coke
- Pappa’s Burger
- Anything with refined sugar
It’s amazing to me that with all the food we are allowed to eat on this fast, that my focus would drift to the few things we can’t eat.
It’s a lot like Adam and Even in the Garden. Every fruit on every tree in the world, save one. Instead of feasting on what was allowed, their attention drifted to what was forbidden.
For me, it’s about focus. Are my eyes set to my freedom in Christ, or is my mind consumed with what is outside His good, pleasing and perfect will for my life?

Awesome post. That’s going to be my prayer today. “Are my eyes set to my freedom in Christ.” Love it!
IT is amazing how we focus on what we can’t have.
Fasting may give us a glimpse of what we’re missing or needing, but it also focuses a light on how we’re thinking. Are we more angry, more lonely, more intolerant than before the fast? In other words… fasting can make us more aware of ourselves.
When we get ourselves right in our thoughts… we can get ourselves right in our relationship with God; the focus of our freedom.
Pete - love the prayer!
totaltransformation - I’m with you, my focus is blurred all too often.
Arlan - fasting does give us a new glimpse at our lives, almost like looking from a new perspective.
Top cravings for me:
1. warm choc chip cookie where the choc chip has form but when you break it apart the choc stays attached to both sides like stringy cheese… Anyways, that kind of cookie with vanilla ice cream on top.
2. Ben and Jerry’s choc fudge brownie ice cream (i seriously have to pray to ask God to help me put it down so I don’t eat an entire tub in one sitting)
3. my morning espresso during quiet time
